Well, good friends all, it’s been a while since this blog was updated – sorry! Despite the current financial gloom it’s been a busy old Autumn with trips to various festivals and a cruise to the Carribean doing trumpet cabaret on board PandO Liner ‘Artemis’ with their all-star band. As of today (26 November 2009) I’m back on the road so more news anon!
But the BIG headline is that – for the second year in succession – my wonderful Half Dozen has won Big Bear Music’s ‘Jazz Oscar’ for ‘TOP SMALL GROUP’ in the British Jazz Awards for 2009. Hence the headline! You can’t imagine how thrilled we are!! – and thank you all for your continued support and votes! They are much appreciated!
Anyhow, take a look at our flourishing giglist elsewhere on the Fairweather site and come and see us soon. And it’s great that in 2010 my HALF DOZEN with star guest PAUL JONES embark together on our first real tour around the UK. Quite a rare thing these days! The dates are May 22nd(Huntingdon Hall, Worcester) 23rd (Harlow Playhouse) 26th (Guildhall, Stamford) 28th (Regent Centre Christchurch) and 29th (New Theatre Royal, Portsmouth), and you can find full details of venues, postcodes, how to book etc. on the gig-list I mentioned earlier!
Some more of our biggest dates are at the world’s most famous jazz club, Ronnie Scott’s where we come back for a Christmas season – again with the great PAUL JONES – from Thursday10- Saturday12 December. It’d be great to see you but do book early as Ronnie’s is always packed during the Christmas season And in fact I’ll be back there on Sunday January 17th too for a brand-new club departure; their Sunday lunchtime Jazz Brunch! Joining me for a special one-off presentation will be Karen Sharp (who just won the tenor-saxophone poll in the British Jazz Awards for 2009! – congrats.Karen!) and the Nick Dawson Trio! Nick’ll be singing some of his great songs and it should be a good way to warm up a chilly January lunchtime, so do try to come along!
All for now as there are cases to pack, but more news anon! Love to you all!
